The project A.S.M. was born in Berlin in 2012, a year of cosmic change, complicated astral alinements, plots and patterns. The city which most represents change and interaction, which stands as a true symbol of the new constantly advancing. Francesco Zappala and Konik Polny, two Producer-DJ’s each carrying over 20 years of experience in various music scenes and movements around Europe and the United States. Both intensely active in the international electronic music world, this pulsating Berlin is where they get to meet.
Francesco’s path starts in the early Hip Hop scene of the 80’s; quickly he becomes noticed and participates in various known competitions as a turntablism artist. In 1986 he discovers House music, buying his first House-Dance record by Lil Louis “Original Video Clash”. Soon after he becomes one of Italy’s peak personas of the 1990’s clubbing scene. Constantly following the scene, music developments and embracing change, his path brings him to the German capital in 2010.
Konik Polny is influenced by a more psychedelic sound and inspired by Bands as Pink Floyd and Grateful Death. So he picks up a Bass Guitar and stars his musical journey in the 80s as well. Soon he discovers his passion for electronic music, after buying his firsts records such as “Pump up the Volume” by M.A.R.R.S. He starts to be seen at after hours and finds his way in the 1990’ Rave Party Movement. At the beginning of the new millennium he finds himself in Berlin, by chance, and is immediately captured by the fermenting Artistic Movement of the Wall City.
These two very parallel musical paths find their intersection uniting the two artist on an icy cold as friendly afternoon, so typical for Berlin. This meeting, happening in KP’s studio, the step was short until they where modifying analog parameters of rigorously analog machines creating new sounds, patterns and a brand new path. Pressing the Rec. button just came natural.
The open source A.S.M (Analogue Sensations Modelling) project took life suspended between past and present, that comes from the heat of the valves and the analog oscillators. Electrical discharges which can only be created by good vibrations. It is a place in which differences are embraced and new fusions created by the collaboration of artists who never met before. Such as in the debuting track “Enjoy the noise” featuring Maite Cruz and Fabio. All coming from different places, geographically and musically the artists get to mold and melt their unique universe, where the paths bend and interlace, no longer being parallel, but creating a new dimension, to be adventured.
